This Sashiko embroidery kit comes with all of the materials needed to make a large drawstring bag, which is perfect for gifting and hanging as a decoration. It includes three Sashiko fine thread cards by the Japanese brand, Daruma. I used only a fraction of the thread to make the case, so there will be plenty left over for other projects.
The threads are beautifully smooth to stitch with. Sashiko thread is none divisible and very strong, the threads are made in Japan by the iconic brand of Daruma, also included is a pack of Sashiko needles by Olympus.
The method of pattern transfer opens up more possibilities in being able to work more freely than traditional Sashiko embroidery kits. This is especially so compared to the old methods of following printed Sashiko fabric that have stitch lengths marked on the fabric, or the ancient prick and pounce method whereby pricking holes in the transfer paper and then dusting it with a powder to leave a mark, which can be quite fiddly. The kit is perfect for beginners.
