A contemporary Sashiko kit containing Daruma threads, which you will have oodles left over for future projects! If you have wanted to try Sashiko, but have been daunted by the process, this one is for you, as I have made it all super easy, with a different way of achieving the same look.
This Sashiko embroidery kit comes with all of the materials needed to make a lined drawstring bag, but could easily make a larger unlined bag, needle case, or cushion front. It includes three Sashiko fine thread cards by the Japanese brand, Daruma. I used only a fraction of the thread to make the case, so there will be plenty left over for other projects.
The threads are beautifully smooth to stitch with. Sashiko thread is none divisible and very strong, also included is a pack of Sashiko needles by Olympus.
The method of pattern transfer opens up more possibilities in being able to work more freely than traditional Sashiko embroidery kits. This is especially so compared to the old methods of following printed Sashiko fabric that have stitch lengths marked on the fabric, or the ancient prick and pounce method whereby pricking holes in the transfer paper and then dusting it with a powder to leave a mark, which can be quite fiddly. This kit is perfect for beginners.
