Studio Update and Kit of the Week!

Studio News

I rolled my sleeves up this week and got stuck into decorating the new studio at Woodend Mill One in Mossley. The studio is just outside Manchester, in the rolling hills of the Saddleworth countryside. As you can see it is very shabby chic, and most of that will stay as I think it is important to celebrate the industrial heritage of the building. Built in 1842 as a cotton mill, it is a lovely feeling to take the cotton back to the cotton mill.

Open Day Coming Soon!

I will soon be releasing news of an open day in the coming weeks. There are lots planned for the Open Day; Free taster sessions in embroidery, nibbles and drinks, lounging and reading in my book corner, seeing my brand new embroidery designs, plus you will have the opportunity to have a guided tour of my stitched art which will there be lots of. It will be a lovely afternoon celebrating all things textile, and it would be lovely to see you there.

It will be the first public airing for a lot of my artwork, as I produced most of it for my MA in lockdown. It wasn't possible to have a graduation exhibition because of the restrictions at the time, but I will be making up for that now. It is a large studio, and all of the walls will be filled with embroidery and artwork! A sneak preview of one of the stitched artworks is shown below, it is a self portrait taken from a school photo .....

Kit of the Week!

This week the Kit of the Week is Mrs Owl. This is a feature that I will be running very regularly, although admittedly perhaps not every week, but the offer will last for a week. So, until Monday 28th August, Mrs Owl Embroidery Kit is only £24 including free UK delivery. Dare I say it ...... it could be a perfect time for stocking up on gifts for you know what? The link to get yours is below, and there are no limits on how many you can purchase.

Mrs Owl kit contains a few simple stitches used to great effect, and is very achievable for beginners as all materials and full instructions are included.

Workshops

There will be a full programme at the studio, as well as workshops at some gorgeous external venues. So if you can't make it to the studio, then I may well be popping up in a town near you. So far, my external venues include Beyond Measure in Todmorden, Milestone Gallery in New Mills, Eden Gallery in Newburgh, and Rheged Centre in Cumbria.

Check the Workshop section at the website for details, the link is below.

The workshops at my studio will include, to name but a few:

  • Creative Embroidery

  • Embroidered Lampshades

  • Wet Felt Making

  • Applique & Hand Embroidery

  • Gouache Painting for Beginners

  • Acrylic Painting for Beginners

That's all for now folks, please follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see decorating updates from the studio, the long wall has now been painted in Lulworth Blue by Farrow & Ball, and it is looking very nice.

Hope to see you soon, email me at hello@littlehouseofvictoria.com il if you would like an embroidery natter or help with a project.

Love from Victoria x

P.S. A reminder to all the newbies that there are free patterns, guides, and stitch lessons in the Free Resources section at the website at the link here https://www.littlehouseofvictoria.com/free-resources
