New! Beautifully Textured Mixed Media & Embroidery Workshop.

Oil pastel, water, and stitch, it doesn't sound like the three should go together, but they do, beautifully and easily.

If you are a fan of rustic mark making, then this one is for you, as the oil pastels provide expressive and spontaneous results.

Making pastel art for use in many other projects and as artworks in their own right, is easily achievable with this quick and easy process. Natural, botanical and abstract themes will be explored, as these subjects provide much scope for organic shapes and abstract stitching.

Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create multiple pastel works on natural fabrics, then we will select areas to work back into with embroidery and beads.

The methods selected will be tailored to your work and ability, and guidance will be given as to how to enhance your work, or you have free rein to be as creative as you like. You can follow my examples, or go completely off piste with your own creation, this is very much encouraged.

We will also discuss uses for your panels, and how to take them into a project following this workshop.

The project involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the embroidery.

The embroidered panel can be framed as art, or as a wall hanging, or applied to a number of clothing or accessories, and you will receive sufficient materials to continue to stitch your pieces at home if you wish.

Kit Contents: The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you:

-Water soluble oil pastels

- Natural fabric base panels, calico and cotton

- Stranded cotton and perle embroidery threads

- Beads and embellishments.

- John James embroidery needles.

All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project.

Please note that the studio is on the third floor of Woodend Mill One, and there is no lift.
