Autumn is upon us it seems, and the upside being that it is a perfect crafting time, but the nights are dark now which can mean reduced visibility.
Some of the people that I have spoken to recently have mentioned the dark nights and not being able to see so well. I overcome this by using daylight bulbs, and a low cost option is to buy the daylight bulbs, rather than the daylight lamps which can cost quite a bit. Make sure to check the recommended wattage in your lamp fitting to stay safe. The bulbs cost around £5, rather than hundreds that the lamp units cost. Ensure that they are daylight bulbs, and not just white light bulbs, and your stitching hours can be massively increased!

Embroidered Lampshade Workshop, this Saturday.
There are still some places on the Embroidered Lampshades workshop at my studio in Mossley this coming Saturday the 4th November. This is a change of venue to the one that was originally published.
There will be an array of lovely designs and colours to choose from, and the lampshade can be fitted onto a lamp base or pendant ceiling fitting. This could be perfect for fitting the daylight bulb in to make a sewing lamp.
It is a full day workshop where we will be applying simple hand embroidery to the bamboo and cotton backing fabric, and then assembling it onto the lampshade shade, before attaching the matching ready embroidered trim of your choice. All materials are included, and the link to book your place is below.
Knitting & Stitching Show, Harrogate , 16th 19th November
