Stitched Portraits

Service Description

In this workshop I will show you how I have stitched the large portrait pieces that hang in my studio, and how I have thread painted the body of work that I produced for my MA in Contemporary Fine Art. Create your own autobiographical artwork, it could be a gift for a special occasion, or a gift to yourself. The stitched photograph will be preserved and cherished. It is surprisingly simple with the use of uncomplicated embroidery stitches. What is important is where you place the stitches, and the colours that are used, which will be covered the workshop where you will create your own stitched portrait. Please provide your photo at least 3 weeks before the workshop, to allow time for the photos to be professionally printed. It might not be possible to finish your portrait on the day, depending on how much stitching you would like to add, and there will be a second day arranged for a mop up session if needed. You will leave with a clear idea of how to finish your work, and how to frame and display it. Included in the workshop price: - Your photo printed on cotton linen, a maximum size of 70cm x 55cm. - Embroidery Needles - A selection of threads. IMPORTANT: - Scan photos at the highest resolution possible and save as a jpeg before emailing to me. Most scanners and printers have an option to scan at a higher resolution. Please ask me if you are not sure. - If you are sending the photos from your phone, save and send them at the highest resolution and the largest size possible. If the file is large, use a free transfer service like We Transfer. - Do not send pdf files, save as jpeg or similar. - If you have booked for someone else, please supply their email address and full name. This is important so I can communicate directly about their photos. - If possible, name the images as your name. - When you send your image, I will reply to confirm that the image is in the right format for printing, please look out for a reply as confirmation of receipt. Due to the bespoke nature of this workshop, once the printing has been ordered, it isn't possible to cancel or refund, but in the event of cancellation you will receive the printed fabric.
