Stitch a Hanging Decoration

Service Description

Make a beautiful hanging decoration with the layering of fabric, lace, ribbons, and hand embroidery. There will be a variety of fabrics to theme your decoration, so you can choose decorations to suit your taste and home. You can either follow my example, or make your own design from the many types of fabrics, colours and finishes available. This workshop is suitable for beginners as it involves a few simple stitches, and you will work with me through each step. It is also equally suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be as creative as you like. As well as making a hanging decoration for your home, the appliqued panel could have many uses, and in this class we will explore how to make it into a needle case, phone case, glasses case, or book cover, and other useful objects too. This is a very creatively freeing process, and there are no rules as the focus is on enjoyment over perfect results. All materials are provided, and you will have materials to take with you, should you wish to finish the project at home. The materials included are: - A selection of beautiful fabrics. - Stranded cotton embroidery threads. - Perle cotton. - Wool embroidery threads. - John James embroidery needles. - Buttons, beads, and embellishments. - Lace and other trimmings. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and there will be plenty of threads for you to take home to finish the project. If you have any materials, threads or embellishments that you would particularly like to use, this is very much encouraged.
