Would you like to learn how to make your own embroidery patterns, or receive mentoring on a personal project? This workshop will take you through all of the steps, or as many as needed, as there is a bespoke element to this workshop. The content is directed by you and could include the following. Bring any projects along, or come along just to find out how to make your own patterns or areas for inspiration for self directed projects. - Finding sources for inspiration. - Colour planning. - Choosing appropriate materials for your project. - Easy ways to draw your own design, for which no drawing skills are necessary. - Using the most appropriate stitches for the design. - How to avoid stitching yourself into a corner. - Building your designs into a comprehensive project. - Approaching course work with confidence. - I will be imparting my experience of designing embroidery patterns and larger projects, and the rationale behind my embroidery designs. Drawing experience is not required, if you can hold a pen, then you can do this. I create all of my patterns by hand, and I will show you how I do this. This workshop can be tailored to your own skill level in terms of embroidery, but I will also be demonstrating some key stitches that are used in a lot of my designs, because of their versatility. These stitches are surprisingly simple. You will have your own embroidery pattern to practice with, as well as the materials needed such as pure linen panels, paper, frixion pens, and a choice of embroidery threads of wool and cotton.
