Paint, Mark Making, & Stitch

Service Description

This is a creatively freeing workshop where there is no need to be able to paint, draw, or stitch. Tuition is included, beginners are welcome, and it is suitable for learning to paint or mark make, and to learn how to stitch. Equally if you are at an advanced level, it is possible that this workshop could be used to loosen up your style, and maybe try something new. Through a series of prompts, and designs to trace if you would like to, we will first create a painted background on fabric, then we will apply simple stitches to create a textured surface. We will be taking inspiration from various artist sources, with an emphasis on abstract and organic shapes, removing the need for neatness and encouraging creativity. For this workshop you will choose a super quality paint set from my shop for use in the workshop, and to take home to use for future projects. Choose from beautiful Winsor & Newton pocket sketchbook paint sets, or Galeria acrylic paint sets. The price of the workshop includes a credit of £20 to spend. Additional paints and tools will be available to use in the workshop. There is no need for previous experience, I will show you the very simple steps to painting, and if you are reticent to draw, there will be some templates to copy or trace. A lack of drawing skills, or a reticence to draw should not be barrier to painting, there are lots of ways around it! If you have a source of inspiration, please bring a photo with you, otherwise there will be plenty of inspiration available in the studio. You can either follow my examples, or go with your own sources of inspiration. Kit Contents: The materials included in the session, and to take away with you: - Winsor & Newton paint set of your choosing, using the £20 credit in the shop. - Fabric to paint on. - Threads and needles. - All the tools needed and extra paints, pens, pencils, will be for use in the studio. - Your finished painting (bring a bag to transport it home). Please note the studio is on the third floor, with stair access only.
