Lindsey Dickson - Stitched Connections

Service Description

I am super excited to welcome Lindsey Dickson of Instagram fame @itsalovelydayfor to the studio! You might know Lindsey from her beautiful creative projects, and seeing her thrifted and car boot finds, and listening to her Sunday chats on Instagram. Lindsey is taking her 30 year old camper van 'Gretl' on a six week journey around the UK, stopping at points along the way to meet fellow stitchers, artists and crafters, who share her love and fascination with fabric. You are invited to make a small stitched piece out of strips of old, worn tea towels, humble pieces of fabric that hold so many stories and bear the testament of everyday life in our homes. Along the route, through England, Wales, and Scotland, each piece will be joined to form one larger textile artwork 'Stitched Connections', weaving together the bonds formed by women through their friendships, conversations and simple joy of stitching. Every imperfect stitch, frayed edge and faded mark will be the story, breathing new life into old and often disregarded. Following the completion of the work, it will be displayed in an art gallery exhibition in Bury St Edmunds, more details to follow about that. If you would like to stitch ahead of the session, there will be a guide to follow on how to do this. Please bring an old worn tea towel, although if you don't have any, there will be some to use. Please also bring any preferred threads that you might have, but there will be some for use in the studio. Tea and coffee will be provided, and you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to the studio, or buy something from the eateries on site. Please note that the studio is on the third floor of the mill, with stair access only. The toilets are on the same floor as the studio.
