Service Description

This is a simple way to make prints that will provide a springboard for taking further with stitch, and the many prints you will make in this workshop will take you beyond the workshop. The prints are also beautiful in their own right. Heat transfer printing provides expressive and spontaneous results. You will leave with multiple prints for future projects, and you will work on one of prints in class. The marks are permanent, and the prints have many uses. This class is limited to 6 attendees to provide maximum space and focus on teaching time. Heat transfer is a simple process, which can be as abstract as you like. Making beautiful prints is easily achievable with this quick and easy process. Natural, botanical, landscape, and abstract themes will be explored, as these subjects provide much scope for organic shapes and print making. Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create multiple printed backgrounds on natural fabrics with heat transfer paints. Then we will select a print to enhance with stitch. The methods selected will be tailored to your prints, and guidance will be given as to how to enhance your work, and you have free rein to be as creative as you like. This project involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. The embroidered panel can be framed as art, or as a wall hanging, or applied to a number of objects and you will receive sufficient materials to continue to stitch your pieces at home if you wish. Kit Contents: The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you: - Various beautiful natural fabrics including organic cotton and bamboo fabric panels, cotton, linen, calico and muslin. - Stranded cotton and perle embroidery threads. - Beads and embellishments, if these are applicable to your work. - John James embroidery needles. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and you will have your class kit to take home to finish the project. Please note that the studio is on the third floor of Woodend Mill One, and there is no lift. Heat transfer paint stains clothing, please dress appropriately, or bring an apron.
