If you would like to know more about making embroidery patterns, but do not have drawing skills, this is the workshop for you. Equally, if you are skilled at drawing and would like to translate your designs into embroidery patterns, this workshop is also for you! Discover the tricks of the trade. The process throughout is completely done by hand with the use of simple drafting and drawing tools, if you are reluctant to use technology, this will be very suitable. I will be imparting my own experience of creating embroidery designs. There will be lots of examples to look through with my kits from past and present. There will also be a selection of my designs for you to trace, if you would just prefer to learn about the embroidery stitches. The workshop will take you through the steps of pattern creation, from planning to the selection of materials, and making your own embroidered pieces; · Finding sources of inspiration. · Colour planning. · Colour schemes and styles. · Selection of materials. · Easy ways to draw your own design, for which no drawing skills are necessary. · Using the most appropriate stitches for the design. · How to avoid stitching yourself into a corner. No drawing experience is required, if you can hold a pen, then you can do this. I create all of my patterns by hand, and you will be shown how to do this. The workshop can be tailored to your own skill level in terms of embroidery, and I will also be demonstrating a variety of stitches that are used in the designs for Little House of Victoria. These stitches are surprisingly simple. You will have your own embroidery pattern to work on or one of my designs if preferred, as well as the materials needed to complete your design, such as pure linen panels and a choice of embroidery threads of wool and cotton. All materials will be provided, but if you have favourite threads, tools, and materials, then please bring those with you.
