Collagraph Printing on Fabric & Stitch

Service Description

Learn this textural and super easy way to print without the use of a printing press. You will leave with many prints to use in future textile and embroidery projects. When you have learnt the process, it is easily achievable to do at home with minimal materials. No drawing skills are required, as we can trace our designs. Rustic and expressive shapes can be used, for which no drawing skills are required, but if you would like to draw, this is also encouraged. Follow my designs, or make your own. Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first make the collagraph plate, before preparing the plate with permanent ink, and then printing onto a range of fabrics. Following the printing, we will then make a stitch plan to further enhance your work, and you will choose a colour palette for your threads. You will receive one of my fabric collagraph prints, so that it can be embroidered in class. Due to the drying time of the ink, it won't be possible to embroider your print in the allocated time, but you will leave with a clear plan. The embroidery style can be tailored to your prints, and guidance will be given as to how to enhance your work, or you have free rein to be as creative as you like. This project involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. Kit Contents: The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you: - A variety of fabric panels. - Stranded cotton, perle, and wool embroidery threads. - Beads and embellishments. - John James embroidery needles - You will have your collagraph plate to take away, from which multiple prints can be made. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project.
