Bayeux Style Crewel Embroidery

Service Description

We are going all historical for this session! Have you ever wanted to learn how to do crewel embroidery? We will be stitching with Appletons crewel wool in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry. You will receive a gorgeous kit with this workshop that includes seven full skeins of Appletons crewel wool and a large linen panel. There will be a choice of my wool embroidery designs, and some old favourites will be returning for this workshop. The samples shown are the designs that will be available, but we will be embroidering them in different stitch styles, in keeping with the Bayeux Tapestry. I will be demonstrating stitches as used in the tapestry including Bayeux stitch. Embroidering with wool is the easiest way to learn, this workshop is suitable for all levels. This workshop is suitable for beginners as it involves a few simple stitches, and you will work with me through each step. It is also equally suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be as creative as you like. All materials are provided, and you will have materials to take with you to finish the project at home. The materials included are: - Large 49cm pure linen fabric panel. - Seven skeins of Appletons crewel wool, 100% pure English wool, made in the UK. - John James embroidery needle. - Carbon tracing paper, if applicable to your kit. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio. This will be the last day of the Curtains to Couture exhibition at my studio. Small Beginnings, Great Expectations & The Lost Jackets will be running from Saturday 19th September to Saturday 3rd of October. The exhibition is free to enter, you do not need to book a workshop to attend the exhibition. We will be working around the exhibition, which will provide great inspiration!
