Anne Kelly - Guest Tutor - Make a Folk Banner

Service Description

I am delighted to welcome Anne Kelly back to the studio for a weekend of two standalone workshops, in this workshop on Sunday 30th May, we will be making a hand stitched folk banner with Anne. Anne's beautiful folk banners were on display recently at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Ontario, the image shown is from the exhibition there. In this one day class with artist, author and tutor Anne Kelly you will be designing and making a small banner in the folk style. This can be used as a decoration or as an artwork. You will be influenced by folk styles and motifs and should think about your design and colourway before the workshop. Embellishment and finishing can be completed after the course. Please bring: An A3 piece of cotton or calico (plain or pastel colour) Some smaller pieces of fabric in your chosen colours Pins Hand stitching kit with hand stitching thread A glue stick Scissors A frixion pen A piece of cartridge paper A3 or 2xA4 for your design pencil If you don't have all of these, there will be some of these items for use in the studio. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, and you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to the studio. Please note that the studio is on the third floor of the mill, with stair access only. The toilets are on the same floor as the studio.
