Slow Stitching & Hand Stitch Applique
Slow Stitching & Hand Stitch Applique. Saturday 8th March, 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Service Description
Slow down and relax with this free and easy way of embroidery. This workshop is suitable for beginners as you will work with me through each step, and it involves a few simple stitches, including Boro stitch. This workshop is equally suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be as creative as you like as there will be a variety of stitches that can be included, including some to stretch your embroidery skills. In this session we will be embroidering and layering strips of applique fabric, and will be joining them together on a linen backing panel in a free and creative way. There will be lots of fabrics to choose from, additionally a selection of my bird, animal, and flower designs will be available, as a way of creating a focal point to the work. There will be no rules or striving for perfection, and we will be embracing the frayed edge. The appliqued panel could have many uses, and in this class we will explore how to make it into a needle case, phone case, glasses case, or book cover, and other useful objects too. Backing fabric, blanket wadding fabric, and button fastenings will be provided to do this. The panels could also be joined together to make other items, all of which will be explored in the workshop. This is a very creatively freeing process, and there are no rules as the focus is on enjoyment over perfect results. All materials are provided, and you will have materials to take with you, should you wish to finish the project at home. The materials included are: - A selection of beautiful fabrics and pure linen base fabrics. - Stranded cotton embroidery threads. - Perle cotton embroidery threads. - Wool embroidery threads. - John James embroidery needles. - Wool blanket panels. - Buttons and embellishments. - Lace and other trimmings. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and there will be plenty of threads for you to take home to finish the project. If you have any materials, threads or embellishments that you would particularly like to use, this is very much encouraged. Please note that the studio is on the third floor of Woodend Mill One, and there is no lift. If you have any questions before the day, then please email me at hello@littlehouseofvictoria.com
