Relief Printing on Fabric
Print on Fabric & Stitch. Sunday 16th August, 11.00 to 3.00
Available spots
Service Description
An easy way to print using foam and a craft knife. Learn how to carve a relief cut on foam before printing it onto fabric, and then planning your stitch project. No drawing skills are required, as we can trace our designs. Alternatively, it is possible to draw straight onto the foam plate, and this is very much encouraged. Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first transfer out design onto the foam plate, and then preparing the plate with permanent fabric ink, before printing onto a range of fabrics. Following the printing, we will then make a stitch plan to further enhance your work, and you will choose a colour palette for your threads to take away with you. You will also receive one of my relief prints, so that it can be embroidered in class, due to the drying time of the ink it won't be possible to embroider your print in the allocated time. We will also discuss uses for your panels, and how to take them into a project following this workshop. This project involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. The embroidered panel could be appliqued to clothing or accessories, as the ink will be permanent and washable. Or, it be framed as art, or as a wall hanging, or applied to a number of objects and you will receive sufficient materials to continue to stitch your pieces at home if you wish. Kit Contents: The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you: - A variety of fabric panels. - Stranded cotton, perle embroidery threads - Beads and embellishments. - John James embroidery needles - You will have your carved plate to take away, from which multiple prints can be made. The plate can also be used to print on paper, if you would like to do some paper prints which are excellent for use in journal making, please bring some paper with you. All other materials that you will need will be for use within the studio, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project. Please note that the studio is on the third floor of Woodend Mill One, and there is no lift. This workshop is not suitable for children due to the sharp tools used. If you have any questions before the day, then please email me at hello@littlehouseofvictoria.com
