Painting in the style of Hilma af Klint

Service Description

This workshop is a study and a celebration of the Swedish artist, Hilma af Klint. We will be working from the book 'Hilma af Klint, The Secret Paintings', which was produced in conjunction with an exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. We will be studying the background to the artist's work and the attributes that define Klint's work, before moving on to paint our own Hilda af Klint inspired painting. For this workshop you will choose a super quality paint set from my shop for use in the workshop, and to take home to use for future projects. Choose from beautiful Winsor & Newton pocket sketchbook paint sets, or Galeria acrylic paint sets. The price of the workshop includes a credit of £20 to spend. Additional paints and tools will be available to use in the workshop. There is no need for previous experience, I will show you the very simple steps to painting, and if you are reticent to draw, there will be some templates to copy or trace. A lack of drawing skills, or a reticence to draw should not be barrier to painting, there are lots of ways around it! If you have a source of inspiration, please bring a photo with you, otherwise there will be plenty of inspiration available in the studio. You can either follow my examples, or go with your own sources of inspiration. The workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced, and you can follow my examples, or go completely off piste with your own creation, this is very much encouraged. You will have the opportunity to transpose your painting to fabric, providing the opportunity to stitch onto it. If you prefer to just use the watercolour paper, this is also fine. as the emphasis in this session is on learning to paint. Kit Contents: The materials included in the session, and to take away with you: - Winsor & Newton paint set of your choosing, using the £20 credit in the shop. - Your finished painting (bring a bag to transport it home). - All the tools needed and extra paints, pens, pencils, will be for use in the studio. Please note the studio is on the third floor, with stair access only. This workshop is not suitable for young children, but it is suitable for children over 8 years old with an accompanying adult.
