Service Description
If you are a fan of rustic mark making, then this one is for you, as mono printing on fabric is expressive and spontaneous. Taking place at the very inspiring Eden Gallery in Newburgh, near Parbold, this workshop is suitable for complete beginners. The process is super easy, and the results look surprisingly sophisticated. Making prints for use in other projects, and as artworks in their own right, is easily achievable with this quick and easy process. Natural, and abstract themes will be explored, as natural subjects provide much scope for organic shapes and print making. Drawing skills are not necessary Full step by step tuition is provided in this workshop where we will first create multiple printed backgrounds on natural fabrics with acrylic paint. Then we will select areas of print to enhance with watercolour and simple embroidery stitches. The methods selected will be tailored to the prints that you create, and guidance will be given as to how to enhance your work, or you have free rein to be as creative as you like. We will also discuss uses for your panels, and how to take them into a project following this workshop. This project involves a few simple stitches, and I will guide you through the steps. It is also suitable for advanced stitchers as it is possible to be creative with the printing and embroidery. The embroidered panel can be framed as art, or as a wall hanging, or applied to a number of objects and you will receive sufficient materials to continue to stitch your pieces at home if you wish. Kit Contents: The materials included for you to embroider in the session, and to take away with you: - Organic cotton and bamboo fabric panels. - Cotton, linen, and calico fabric panels - Stranded cotton embroidery threads - Watercolour paint set with brush. - Beads and embellishments. - John James embroidery needles. All other materials that you will need will be for use, and you will have your kit to take home to finish the project. If you have any materials, threads or embellishments that you would particularly like to use, this is very much encouraged. The workshop within Eden Gallery is on the ground floor and is fully accessible, if you wish to dine in the cafe before the workshop, there is a lift, and booking is recommended. There is plenty of time to look around the gallery and shop in the morning before the workshop.
