Service Description

Join me in my studio at Woodend Mill One, Mossley, near Saddleworth, where we will be getting creative with wool embroidery! Would you like to learn crewel embroidery techniques the easy way? All materials are included plus materials to take home with you. I have selected all of the materials for ease of use, and this course is suitable for beginners, as I will guide you through each step. There is a choice of design from any of my wool kits, and this includes my new embroidery kits containing large cotton and bamboo fabric panels. Included in the sustainably sourced kit: - Large Organic Cotton & Bamboo fabric panel, measuring approximately 74 x 45cm. - Pure wool local threads ready cut and stored on a thread keeper ring. - Carbon tracing paper - John James Embroidery Needle - A4 full colour printed instruction booklet - A calico bag to store everything in, and to embroider with leftover thread. I will guide you through the basic stitches, this style of stitching is achievable for complete beginners, as you will learn one stitch at a time with beautiful pure wool threads. Advanced stitchers will also get a lot out of this unique way of stitching. I will demonstrate all of the stitches to be able to make your embroidery into a generous sized cushion or a tote bag. There will be plenty of time to practice the stitches, and you will leave with confidence. I will also equip you to finish the cushion or bag at home with a simple blanket stitch or woven border stitch. You will be guided through the stages: - Tracing your design onto fabric, the easy way. - Placing your fabric into the hoop. - Threading the wool through the needle, with a very simple method. - Basic stitch styles, which are easy to master. - Following the course, you will have extra support as I will be available by email if you need any further advice, and there are stitch tutorial videos at my website. Please note that my studio is located on the third floor and there is no lift in the building. The stairs are old mill stairs. I am a qualified teacher in Art & Creative Practice, and I have demonstrated on many shows at the craft TV channel 'Create and Craft' with my branded embroidery kits from 'Little House of Victoria',
